I don’t know about you, but Fall is my favorite time of the year. Leaves change, there’s a little less sun, and things cool down which means that it’s the perfect time to go to work on your skin. If you’re like most people, you’ve spent a lot more time outside during the summer. Kids sporting events, going out on the lake, or just plain driving around in your car means that your skin has been hit with a lot of UV rays. Ultraviolet rays from the sun break down collagen and elastin and they cause sun damage. But all UV rays are not the same. There’s UVA rays and UVB rays.
UVB rays…think B as in Burn. You get sun burned from those rays and if you get too much you can look like a lobster. UVB plays a big role in causing skin cancer as well. UVA rays are much more sneaky… because they do not give an immediate signal that you’re getting burned, but they go deep into the layers of your skin and cause damage. UVA rays lead to premature aging wrinkles due to them destroying collagen and elastin in your skin.
